19th Annual Paddy Festival in Tenkasi
As part of the 19th Annual Traditional Paddy Seeds Festival – 2025, a program was held at the Panchayat Union Office meeting hall, Vasuthevanallur, Tenkasi District, on 6th August 2025. More than 160 farmers, both women and men, along with officials from the Department of Agriculture, participated.
At the end of the meeting, seeds of various varieties — Nellaiyappar (local variety), Rathasali, Poongaru Karunkuruvai, Karuppu Kauni, Sornamusuri, Seeraka Samba, Karunguruvai, and Milaku Samba — were distributed to the farmers.
Mr. V. Antonysamy, a leading organic farmer from Puliyangudi known for his innovative farming practices, particularly in sugarcane cultivation, delivered an inspiring speech that motivated other farmers. Mr. Iyamperumal, an organic coconut farmer from Devipattinam, shared the challenges he faced and the experiences he gained over the last two decades. Both farmers narrated their success stories in organic cultivation and highlighted how they achieved success in marketing their produce.
