Workshop for Consumers & Influencers to Enable Wider Adoption of Organic Food

TNAU, Coimbatore

CREATE in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Agriculture University and Bio Basics organized a one-day Workshop for Consumers and Influencers for wider adoption of organic food on 8th July 2024 at the University Campus. Around 100 people representing organic farmers, consumer associations, social media, organic retailers, physicians, students, youth, women organizations have participated. The inaugural address of Dr. V. Geethalakshimi, Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agriculture was very inspiring and her call for collective committed action from every segment to expand organic cultivation areas as well as increase the demand for organic food.
The panel discussions on “Organic Foods to Common People’s Plate and Organic Food – A Partnership among Stakeholders” have brought out fruitful discussions and interactions, the key issues and challenges such as fair price, organic genuineness of product, traceability in the organic food supply chain, the responsibilities of stakeholders and how collectively we could resolve this through participatory dialogue and interactions. The participants enjoyed the taste and flavour of organic lunch and appreciated the efforts. The speakers, panellists and moderators were felicitated with an eco-friendly organic pack of Biobasics comprising Gandasala and Black Gouni rice pockets and Palm Jaggery along with recipes. Mr. K. Suresh Kanna, the Project Director, CREATE detailed the objectives of the workshop, facilitated the event and proposed vote of thanks.
